Top 5 Generals of Ancient Times!!!!!!

5. Miltiades-  He is, like a few great Generals on this list, a one battle wonder......But what a Battle!!! Now I will give you more details of the battle in a later list(spoiler alert), but I will tell you this. It was the perfect example of how superior leadership with few can overcome rash leadership with many. Miltiades, winner of one of the most remarkable victories in like, ever!!!......Battle of Marathon

4. Spahbod Surena- I can count the number of Generals that have managed to get one over on the Romans on one hand.....Let me introduce one of them. Surena beat the Romans using superior logistical skills and baiting tactics. He made his enemy come to him, and that is a great trait in a General.

3. Hannibal Barca- If this guy was bit more clever in his later campaigns he might of well been number 2. Still it stands to reason that he gave the Romans a seriously bloodied nose at Cannae...Did I say bloodied nose, phpffff! I meant a fucking hemorrhage! The Battle of Cannae; 80 000 Romans were decimated by a mercenary Carthaginian force of 25 000. WOW. Rome was untouchable before him and he showed up and proved them all to......touchable. The fact that he invaded Italy made him a boogieman figure in Roman imagination for decades after his death.

2. Julius Caesar- No, this guy is not just famous for being stabbed an awful lot of times! This guy was just a fucking prodigy, he is one of the 2 Generals on this list to have never been defeated in battle. The only reason he is not number 1 is because the next guy on this list fought more battles and won all of them.... Anyway, back to Caesar. This guy was in many ways the worlds first Metro-sexual, and Rome did not like metro-sexual males, so big things were not expected of him. Then he went to Gaul and within a decade all of western Europe is in Roman hands......WOW. Then when the Gauls revolted he wins a stunning, now don't mince my words, a STUNNING victory at Alesia. At the Battle of Alesia he had 80 000 Gauls on each side of him, that is 160 000 in total. His forces numbered around 60 000. He not only won that battle, he decimated any Gallic threat forever! You would be forgiven for thinking that was his only trick, but hold on.... He then took Rome with just one legion(8000 men) and no siege works. Then he beat his mentor and friend, the much hyped Pompey the Great, in the Battle of Pharsalus. Where Pompey had 52 000 men to his 23 000. Caesar defied the odds wherever he went.

1. Alexander the Great- There was only ever going to be one person to top all of that! Fought over 40 battles in his life and won absolutely all of them. His most famous being the battle of Gaugamela, in which he personally destroyed a 250 000 strong Persian Army with his army of 47 000. There are so many of his battles I could tell you about, but I don't think I have enough time. He is a very controversial character in history, people don't know whether to love or hate him..... Love or hate him, you cant deny there was genius there.
